CUNY SPS Debt Forgiveness: Fall 2024

CUNY SPS Debt Forgiveness Program Application

The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) Debt Forgiveness program has been established to provide eligible undergraduate students with past due balances additional temporary financial assistance so they have an opportunity to get back on track to complete their Bachelor's degree. In addition, a student must have a payment arrangement in place for Fall 2024 semester before the bursar hold on their account may be lifted.

Award Amount: up to $1000, based on financial need and good academic standing.

**Scholarship awards are subject to fund availability.

Scholarship Criteria:

Completed a minimum of 12 credits at CUNY SPS
Plan to enroll in a minimum of 6 credits for the awarded semester
Enrolled in a Bachelor degree program
Minimum 2.0 GPA
Must demonstrate financial need
Have a past due tuition balance

Note: Completion of all program requirements is required for the awarded funds to be permanently credited to a student’s account. Only applications submitted on or before July 30th, 2024 will be considered.

CUNY SPS Debt Forgiveness Program Application

The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) Debt Forgiveness program has been established to provide eligible undergraduate students with past due balances additional temporary financial assistance so they have an opportunity to get back on track to complete their undergraduate degrees. In addition, a student must have a payment arrangement in place for the Spring 2025 semester before the bursar hold on their account may be lifted.

Award Amount: up to $1,000, based on financial need and good academic standing.

**Scholarship awards are subject to fund availability.

Scholarship Criteria:

Completed a minimum of 12 credits at CUNY SPS
Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits for awarded semester
Enrolled in a Bachelor degree program
Minimum 2.0 GPA
Must demonstrate financial need
Have a past due tuition balance

Note: Completion of all program requirements is required for the awarded funds to be permanently credited to a student’s account. Only applications submitted on or before December 13th, 2024 will be considered.

Eugene Walters Scholarship

Endowed by the Eugene Walters Family Foundation.

Award Amount: Varied, based on financial need and academic merit. Tuition only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

Completed at least 6 credits at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS)
Enrolled in a CUNY SPS online degree program on a part- or full-time basis

**Scholarship awards are subject to fund availability.

Founding Dean's Scholarship

The Founding Dean’s Scholarship, endowed in perpetuity by the generous support of Dean John Mogulescu.

Award Amount: $500 Part-time, $1500 Full-time, based on financial need and academic merit. Tuition only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

Enrolled in a CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) degree program on a part- or full-time basis
Completed at least 6 credits at CUNY SPS

Russ Peterson Technology Scholars

Created in memory of Russell Peterson and endowed in perpetuity by his family.

Award Amount: Varied, based on financial need and academic merit. Tuition only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

Completed at least 6 credits at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS)
BS in Information Systems, the BS in Health Information Management, or the MS in Data Analytics
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
Undergraduate students must be within 30 credits of graduation, and graduate students must be within 12 credits of graduation.

Stephen M. Rossen Memorial Scholarship

Established by the generosity of the Rossen family.

Award Amount: $1500, based on financial need and academic merit. Tuition only scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria:

Completed at least 6 credits at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS)
Enrolled in a CUNY SPS online bachelor's degree program on a part- or full-time basis
Undergraduate students must be within 30 credits of graduation
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
